Language

The national language of Honduras is Spanish: however since the Bay Islands were once British colonies many people do speak or understand English.

Water

All tap water supplied at Tranquilseas comes from our own well and will be filtered/sterilized, safe for human consumption and use.  In each cabana you will have a refridgerated water dispenser that will be replenished as you need it.

Safety

As you tour around Tranquilseas you will encounter our personal security guard.  Although the Bay Islands are generally safe for tourists and visitors alike normal precautions should be taken. When strolling at night or in remote places you need to take into account that you are in a third world location.

Climate

The temperature on Roatan usually ranges from 28°C/84°F to 35°C/105°F and with the trade winds from the southeast the island is being continuously cooled. The water temperatures, as you would expect from a Caribbean paradise, always lie nicely in the 26°C/78°F to 29°C/87°F range.

October through to December usually brings most of the rain, but rainfall is periodic and normally only showers. From June until the later months we do fall into the hurricane season: fortunately enough for Roatan we lie just far enough west so that many of the hurricanes just pass on by. Sometimes the humidity can become quite high so we encourage you to drink plenty of water.

* This does not exclude Roatan from the hurricane season. <page 3>
